1 tablespoon vegetable oil 2 medium onions, chopped (divided use) 4 lbs. fresh pork baby back ribs, cut into serving size pieces 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 2 teaspoons minced garlic 1 cup honey barbecue sauce 1/3 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup sweet mirin 2 medium fresh red chili peppers, seeded and minced 6 whole star anise pods 2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger |
Rub oil on surface of a 6-quart crock-pot. Place half of onions in bottom. Sprinkle ribs with salt and pepper. Place on onions. Stir remaining onions, barbecue sauce, soy sauce, mirin, chili peppers, anise pods and ginger together in a bowl. Pour evenly over ribs. Cook on low for 7-8 hours until ribs are tender. Serves 4. |
